“Flamingle” Down 181 Shopping Event
It’s almost time for the Flamingle Down 181 shopping event! If you haven’t heard about it yet, then you will want to mark your calendars for this Saturday (June 11th) for a multi-store shopping event that is sure to be a good time for our small towns. There are many goals with this type of event, as well as perks for the shoppers/participants, and maybe even a surprise from me! Read on fellow small shop lovers, and get to know more about the event before you embark on your Flamingle journey this weekend.
I sat down with the owner of Boho Blooms Boutique, a Floresville native, Morgan Mitchell. During our sit down we had tons of laughs and great conversation about our town and the businesses here, as well as got into the details of how these multi-store shopping events she keeps putting on came about. If you didn’t already know, there was a Jingle & Mingle event this past holiday season, and they decided to bring back the event for summer since it was such a hit (thank you shoppers!). Morgan had attended a similar event in another town years ago, and as she dove further into her journey of Boho Blooms, she began to realize some things… one, not all her shoppers knew about other boutiques in the area and two, there were no events going on to help bring the boutique owners together to help support one another… so she decided to find a way to bridge those gaps and here we are! After the first event, there was great feedback from customers, so they have added and changed a few things for this upcoming weekend. Let’s get into the details:
How the event works is you will pay $5 for a wristband and a map, this can be prepurchased from a participating shop or purchased on the day of, with all ticket sales going to the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter. Your wristband will allow you to unlock special deals at each store! There are 9 participating stores: (from north to south) Recycled Memories, Boho Blooms Boutique, Guns & Glamour Boutique, Top Hat Thriftique, Sisters Boutique & Gifts, Double Trouble Boutique, Finders Keepers Market, Home Marketplace on 3rd, and Southern Soule Designs. It is about 17 miles total with the stops spaced throughout the entire trek. Each store will have it’s own deals, sips, and snacks available. On top of all of that, the first 10 people into each store that day will get a swag bag filled with unique items from that store. Hint: I would suggest starting at your favorite store that day so you can snag a swag bag from it!
Your map is equally as important to this event! Not only does it show you where the shops are located, but it has stamp spots that you’re going to want to get marked. You will get one stamp at each store that you visit, and if you get all your store stamps, you get entered into a raffle (which we’ll dive into in a minute). You can get a second stamp at each shop when you make a purchase, and if you fill up all your purchase stamps too, you get entered into the raffle for a second time! So just by #SupportingLocalBusiness and making a purchase from each shop, you will get two entries into a phenomenal raffle!
Now let’s talk about that raffle in detail, because it’s a big one! Each shop has donated to make one large basket that is filled with unique items from each of their shops. And when I say large, I mean it, because this basket is worth over $1,000! Your support of these local shops means the world to the owners, and this is their way of saying thank you for continuing to support them, for participating in their event to bring our town together, and for keeping your business local.
There are many plans for the future with this event. Plans for growth, more fun add-ons for shoppers, and more ways to help our community and other businesses.
